By now you all know that Arizona Governor Janice K. Brewer
has vetoed SB 1062. Clearly, she did not have the grapes to oppose the Gays.
Well, that’s sort of the way of the world, isn’t it? Of course, her veto drew
swift praise from gay rights groups.
I still am a bit confused on why any business cannot refuse
service to anyone they want. So, does
this mean business owners in Arizona have to remove those “No Shirt – No Shoes –
No Service” signs? Does it mean that a
Muslim owned restaurant must have bacon on their menu, or that a Jewish owned
bakery must make a cake in the likeness of a swastika if a customer requests it? Of course not, because this bill is not about
restricting ALL religious freedom, it’s about restricting ONE religion… it’s
about reducing the religious freedom of Christians.
Doug Napier, an Arizona attorney criticized the governor’s
veto. He said “Freedom loses when fear overwhelms facts and a good bill is vetoed.
Today’s veto enables the foes of faith to more easily suppress the freedom of
the people of Arizona.”
I say he got it right…
