THANKSGIVING MESSAGE
It is hard to believe but in a few days, those of us in the United States, will celebrate our annual Thanksgiving Day. A time set aside to remind all of America to once again look up, and thank our Creator for the abundant blessings we all enjoy. Someone once said that the road to degradation and sin begins with an ungrateful spirit. People have abundance but want more, and are not grateful for what they have. This we have seen in young and old alike. So how can we turn this around? Let me suggest a couple of things that might help: First, look around you and count all the things you have that others might not have. Begin with the tangibles such as job, house, clothing, health, etc., etc. Next, count the intangibles such as friends, family, purpose, the opportunity to live here in the United States enjoying relative peace and prosperity, and so on. Now ask yourself how you were able to accumulate all of this. Some might be so arrogant as to say "I earned it myself." That attitude is the first step toward degradation and sin. We need to look to our Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and express our thanks to Him for being so good to us. We don't deserve it, but by His grace we have it, and we ought to thank Him for His goodness towards us. Remember that all assets belong to God. We are simply stewards of His property. It does not belong to us. Thank Him for His trusting you to care for His property. Thanksgiving means a lot more than eating turkey.
==========================================================
The First Thanksgiving Proclamation (June 20, 1676)
On June 20, 1676, the governing council of Charlestown, Massachusetts, held a meeting to determine how best to express thanks for the good fortune that had seen their community securely established. By unanimous vote they instructed Edward Rawson, the clerk, to proclaim June 29 as a day of thanksgiving, our first. That proclamation is reproduced here in the same language and spelling as the original.
THE FIRST THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION - JUNE 20, 1676:
"The Holy God having by a long and Continual Series of his Afflictive dispensations in and by the present War with the Heathen Natives of this land, written and brought to pass bitter things against his own Covenant people in this wilderness, yet so that we evidently discern that in the midst of his judgments he hath remembered mercy, having remembered his Footstool in the day of his sore displeasure against us for our sins, with many singular Intimations of his Fatherly Compassion, and regard; reserving many of our Towns from Desolation Threatened, and attempted by the Enemy, and giving us especially of late with many of our Confederates many signal Advantages against them, without such Disadvantage to ourselves as formerly we have been sensible of, if it be the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed, It certainly bespeaks our positive Thankfulness, when our Enemies are in any measure disappointed or destroyed; and fearing the Lord should take notice under so many Intimations of his returning mercy, we should be found an Insensible people, as not standing before Him with Thanksgiving, as well as lading him with our Complaints in the time of pressing Afflictions: The Council has thought meet to appoint and set apart the 29th day of this instant June, as a day of Solemn Thanksgiving and praise to God for such his Goodness and Favour, many Particulars of which mercy might be Instanced, but we doubt not those who are sensible of God's Afflictions, have been as diligent to espy him returning to us; and that the Lord may behold us as a People offering Praise and thereby glorifying Him; the Council doth commend it to the Respective Ministers, Eldersand people of this Jurisdiction; Solemnly and seriously to keep the same Beseeching that being persuaded by the mercies of God we may all, even this whole people offer up our bodies and souls as a living and acceptable Service unto God by Jesus Christ."
*********************************************************************************
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way--in all your speaking and in all your knowledge--
1 Corinthians 1:4,5
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

Should Christians Honor Barack Obama?
**************************************************************************
Meet Doug Giles. He always has an interesting perspective.
Should Christians Honor Barack Obama?
By Doug Giles (Google him)
Christians, who take the scriptures seriously, are about as happy about an Obama presidency as a pig is a bacon sandwich. Stoked we ain't. And it isn't because Barack is black. Personally, I think it is great that our nation has a black president, and I say this officially ends all the "oppressive white devil" blather. Yep, no mas "blanco el Diablo," por favor. We have now "evolved."
This means Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can formally zip it. I think that's why Jackson was crying last Tuesday night ... he done. A black man is now the most important person on the planet, and it's not Jesse! Plus, Jackson's on tape saying he wanted to cut Obama's balls off, and now Barack's going to spread Jesse's wealth. That'll make a grown man cry. So close, Jackson, yet so far away.
Back to the church. What concerns Christians who are governed by the scriptures, and not Oprah, are Obama's liberal-to-the-core stances on abortion, marriage, socialism, freedom of speech, big government, taxes, guns and his associations with Marxist radicals. That's what freaks believers who actually believe, and not, I say, not the levels of melanin in Obama's epidermis.
As a believer, here's how I'm trying to deal with this: If God is omniscient then ... uh ... he knew this was coming; if he is omnipotent then ... hello ... he allowed this to happen; and if he's still omnipresent (and I'm pretty sure he still is) then he is still with us. So, essentially, providentially, we got what God wanted us to have. Time will tell whether or not He's propping us up for a major national butt whuppin' or our tricky God is going to bring a back door unexpected blessing from someone most Christians assume God would never use.
Now, if we truly follow "Hey-soos," then we're commanded, not suggested, to respect and pray for those who have authority over us. We cannot pick and choose which texts we're going to obey and disobey when it comes to Christian conduct. I wish we could, because I'd like to slap the snot out of my neighbor who blares techno music from his balcony at 4:00 a.m., but alas, I can't.
"Honor," biblically speaking, in Greek, according to Yahweh, means not to be a braying d-bag like Al Franken, and "pray" for our leaders denotes all kinds of prayers, not just the "now I lay me down to sleep" stuff. Matter of fact, for a type of prayer that gets all the attention of Michael Moore's personal Gutbuster DVD, check out James Adams' book War Psalms of the Prince of Peace. This is an interesting book on a certain kind of biblical entreaty commonly utilized by Jesus and the saints in the Old and New Testament. I guarantee you have never heard these prayers prayed, preached or sang lately in your churches. Google it, get two copies (one for you and one for your pastor) and get back with me on how they have spiced up your prayer time. Our nation could depend on it.
Now back to the issue of honor. Christian, you don't want to mimic the unhinged loons on the left who sport Bush Derangement Syndrome with an equally obnoxious Barack Derangement Syndrome, do you? Also, just so you do not misinterpret what I mean when I say "honor," I'm not talking about wearing buttsmacker lip balm. True honor means we show respect and ... I said AND ... oppose, reprove or rebuke Obama when we think he's wrong. The Christian is commanded to do this if he or she truly loves someone. We just gotta make sure we do it with dignity and don't sound like the nasally, nerve-gratingly nasty demon toad lady named Janeane Garofalo.
Christian, are we really surprised McCain got McDusted? What did we think was going to happen in this election? Did we really believe McCain was going to become president in this TV-addicted, American Idol-addled culture? Huh? We can't run a guy who ticks off his base and looks like Uncle Fester - hero or not - against an electric Tiger Woods who has a billion bucks and a huge cult following. Haven't we learned anything from Dancing with the Stars? Leachman was destined to lose to Lucci. McCain/Palin had a snowball's chance in Miami of winning this thing.
Speaking of Palin: To Fox News' Carl Cameron and the McCain campaign punks who are dissing Palin, you dingleberries are truly pathetic. What's next? Are you going to spray-paint old people at the mall? Drown some kittens? Pull the legs off spiders? All of you are a disgrace and are not worthy enough to unlatch Palin's pumps.
Finally, my Christian hope is this: Hopefully now the church will officially get off its backside and go look for its dust-covered bible it uses to read and believe. After we find our forsaken sacred text and once again peruse its pages, I hope there is widespread and heartfelt repentance for whizzing on its precepts. In addition, I hope that conservatives, after having had our butts handed to us, will turn our attention to a search and rescue mission for the baton that was lost when Reagan left office, and then attempt to hand it to someone on the right who has more unction than that of a hinge.
From me, but not by me,
Be blessed,
Wayne

WATER... THE ELIXIR OF HEALTH
Water… the elixir of health
**********************************************************
I am sharing this one with you because I think it is very strange. Three or four months ago I started drinking a liter (1.05 Qt.) of water first thing in the morning. Before eating or drinking anything else a full liter of water. This is after brushing my teeth however. I still do this to this day. I am not really sure why I started it, but probably because I need to drop a few pounds and we all know water helps the weight loss process.
After the liter of water, I drink coffee. I don’t start drinking coffee first because I know if I do I will never get to the water. After 2-3 cups of coffee it’s time for the treadmill (dreadmill). I drink another 20 oz. of water during that workout. So a lot of water each morning.
My overall health is much improved over a few months ago. Coincidence, perhaps, but there is one thing certain… I have reduced my BP medication by 50% recently. I check it frequently and yesterday it was 118/74. That’s pretty darn good considering the reduction in medication. May be off it all-together in the not too distant future.
Why am I telling you all of this?
Because a couple of days ago a friend of mine sent me an email that contained the following:
DRINK WATER IN EMPTY STOMACH
It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:
Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water .....interesting
2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes
3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.
4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours
5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.
6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life..
The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure - 30 days
2. Gastric - 10 days
3. Diabetes - 30 days
4. Constipation - 10 days
5. Cancer - 180 days
6. TB - 90 days
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards - daily.
This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life.
Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.
*************************************************************
Wayne again:
OK… some of that is a bit over the top. I am not too sure about some of it, like the cancer and TB, but there may be something to some of it. I don’t know what else to credit the drop in my blood pressure to. Well, who knows? Do what you wish with it.
Be blessed,
Wayne

Another Foreclosure Prevention Plan
Another Foreclosure Prevention Plan
(Everybody has one)
The FDIC explained what it wants to do:
Although foreclosures are costly to lenders, borrowers and communities, the pace of loan modifications continues to be extremely slow (around 4 percent of seriously delinquent loans each month). It is imperative to provide incentives to achieve a sufficient scale in loan modifications to stem the reductions in housing prices and rising foreclosures.
Modifications should be provided using a systematic and sustainable process. The FDIC has initiated a systematic loan modification program at IndyMac Federal Bank to reduce first lien mortgage payments to as low as 31% of monthly income. Modifications are based on interest rate reductions, extension of term, and principal forbearance. A loss share guarantee on redefaults of modified mortgages can provide the necessary incentive to modify mortgages on a sufficient scale, while leveraging available government funds to affect more mortgages than outright purchases or specific incentives for every modification. The FDIC would be prepared to serve as contractor for Treasury and already has extensive experience in the IndyMac modification process.
Basic Structure and Scope of Proposal
This proposal is designed to promote wider adoption of such a systematic loan modification program:
1. by paying servicers $1,000 to cover expenses for each loan modified according to the required standards; and
2. sharing up to 50% of losses incurred if a modified loan should subsequently re-default
We envision that the program can be applied to the estimated 1.4 million non-GSE mortgage loans that were 60 days or more past due as of June 2008, plus an additional 3 million non-GSE loans that are projected to become delinquent by year-end 2009. Of this total of approximately 4.4 million problem loans, we expect that about half can be modified, resulting in some 2.2 million loan modifications under the plan.
What many believe this really is:
$24.4 billion in welfare to people who deliberately bought more house than they could afford, paid for by us taxpayers who lived within our means. The only thing "aggressive" about this proposal is how aggressively the government would raid our wallets.
Many people have the attitude that the homeowners in trouble should not be helped at all. They feel that since those homeowners in trouble were reckless with decision to purchase a home they should just have to suffer the consequences. After all I purchased a home I could afford. If we help those who were reckless am I not being penalized for being financially prudent? That attitude is all to indicative of what is wrong with our country.
Are you really that blinded by greed and anger? If you're responsible for yourself and your family, why feel such anger and hate towards your neighbor? If 5 houses on your block, or in your neighborhood fall into foreclosure - do you not see that it affects you? That's 5 houses that just depreciated in value - bringing your home value down. That's 5 homeowners not paying taxes - yours will go up next year when the cops/firefighters/garbage pick-up/public workers/water dept..... etc. bill isn't fully funded. That's 5 families that don't shop at the local grocery store anymore. 5 families that don't eat at local restaurants, buy cars at the dealers in town. All of those places that you may be just blindly assigning as 'wasteful' - they also pay taxes to your municipality and State. They are now also going broke, so do the math.
Is it a frustrating situation? Sure. But spewing anger against those less fortunate and suffering does nothing to help the situation. This is a nationwide problem and every American should want it fixed just as soon as possible. Then we all win!

OUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK
****************************************************************************
Our government at work
OK… let’s see what they have done for us lately:
They failed to regulate the mortgage industry sufficiently…
They failed to slow the pace of run-away foreclosures…
They failed to regulate Wall Street sufficiently…
They failed to stabilize our economy…
They failed to prevent massive layoffs and unemployment…
They are using $700 billion of our dollars to try and fix their mistakes…
(any bets on their sucess)
They failed to get us out of the Iraq war in a timely manner…
The list could go on and on but one must stop somewhere.
So they must be effective at something they attempt…True?
Yes, of course they are. We should not let the above list of small failures prevent us from recognizing when they do something right, should we? And this one is gigantic compared to the above items.
Just look at the great job they are doing on getting the word out about the February 19th change to all digital television. We get thousands upon thousands of warnings every day. If I never see another one it will too soon!
WTH… With everything going on right now that is the most important thing to them? And guess what? If you are so lame as to be still watching TV with a rabbit ear antenna, via the airwaves, the government will give you a high dollar voucher to get the necessary converter. Hummmmm…. I wonder who is paying for that? YOU ARE! That’s who!
Hey, wait a minute… I don’t have TiVo. There must be some way the government will get it for me. And no iPod either. Since I don’t need the digital TV converter can I have a voucher of equal value towards one of these?
Well, in the event we really do enter another great depression at least we all can watch digital TV. That will give something to do while sitting at home with no job or money. This assumes we will have a home.
God bless,
Wayne

God bless,
Wayne
